Bradish Johnson, 1811-1892

An American Industrialist who owned plantations and sugar refineries in Louisiana and a large distillery in New York City.

Woodland Plantation – located in West Pointe à la Hache, Louisiana.  Captain William Johnson, father of Bradish Johnson, had this antebellum mansion built in the 1830’s.  The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is now operated as a bed-and-breakfast.  FACT: an artistic rendering of Woodland Plantation served as the label for Southern Comfort bottles from the 1930’s to 2010.
